The first episode of the animated sitcom "The Simpsons" was released in 1989, quickly gaining popularity. The scriptwriters of the show regularly came up with stories that seemed like utter fiction, nonsense and a joke.
However, over time, many of the situations shown in The Simpsons occurred in the real world, and we will recall about 10 such “predictions” today.
10. The output of the game Guitar Hero
A guitar game simulator appeared on the Playstation 2 console in 2005, however, the Simpsons knew about it a few years before: Keith Richards and Mick Jagger gave Homer a jacket with the name of the game on the front three years before the release of the simulator. In stores, clothes with such symbols began to be sold only after years when the game became popular all over the world.
9. Lady Gaga at the Super Bowl
One of the favorite themes of the authors of the series is the image of famous personalities in an absurd and comical appearance.
Actors, politicians and musicians regularly fall under the distribution, so no one was surprised when an episode of Lady Goes Gaga was released in 2012.
In it, a shocking singer performed during the break of the final game, dressed in a futuristic outfit. Sparks streamed from her bra, and she herself was suspended from the ceiling by wires and flew around the hall.
Over time, this episode was forgotten, but again took off in trends in 2016, when Lady Gaga really flew around the arena during the Super Bowl break, performing her hits.
The only thing the scriptwriters miscalculated was the sparkling bra, since in reality Gaga was not dressed so “flammable”.
8. Tiger Attack on Roy Horn
In the USA there are brothers Roy and Siegfried Horn, widely known for their performances with tigers, as we have the Zapashny brothers. In 1993, brothers Ernst and Gunther appeared in one of the episodes, who were attacked by a white tiger in the story.
After 10 years, in 2003, a beast named Monticore during a rehearsal jumped on Roy Horn, causing him a neck injury.
7. The Longevity of The Rolling Stones
This group was created in 1962, but still continues to perform. In 1995, an episode of the animated series was released showing the future of Lisa in 2010, that is, after 25 years.
In one of the moments, a poster with information about the Wheelchair Tour (wheelchair tour) of the cult group is shown.
At the time of the release of the series, the group had existed for more than 30 years, but the authors boldly suggested that such mastodons would not be enough even 50 and they would continue to perform even if they could not walk. Fortunately, musicians are not yet required wheelchairs.
6. Awarding of the Nobel Prize to Bengt Holmström
In 2016, Bengt Holmström became the Nobel Prize winner in economics. Perhaps one of those interested in this fact surprised, but certainly not the Simpsons fans. Back in 2010, they learned that Holmstrom would receive his prize sooner or later.
In one of the episodes, Milhouse argued with Martin on the subject of who will take the “Nobel Prize”, and Martin bet on Jagdish Bhagwati, who has not yet received a reward, but Milhouse hit the bullseye, calling Bengt.
5. September 11 terrorist attack in New York
The most tragic prediction that many consider far-fetched. In one of the episodes, many years before September 11, Bart holds in his hand a magazine that says New York, the price is $ 9, and the city, including the twin towers, is shown in the background.
Everything is drawn in such a way that the price and the picture of the towers add up to the fateful date of 9/11. This is a "prophecy" of those in which the creators would be glad to make a mistake.
4. The Ebola Epidemic
Following the tragedy in New York, let us recall one more point that would not have come true better.
In 2014, the African continent became the site of an Ebola virus epidemic, killing many lives and spreading panic throughout the world. Monitors were considered carriers of fever.
Surprisingly, back in the 1997 series, then 17 years earlier, Marge read the book Curious George and the Ebola Virus with a sick monkey on the cover.
3. Trump - President
In the 11th episode of the 17th season, Bart falls into the future, in which his sister Lisa is appointed President of America in a difficult moment for the country. The previous ruler, Donald Trump, ruined the economy with his leadership, so she has to fix everything.
In 2000, this seemed ridiculous, and Trump himself was chosen solely because he seemed the least possible candidate for president. After 17 years, the old joke became a reality, and for some it’s not very fun.
2. Germany's victory over Brazil in the 2014 World Cup
The episode was released a few months before the start of the World Cup and was entirely devoted to the upcoming football forum. It contained not one, or even two predictions, which is simply amazing.
Firstly, the key Brazilian player El Divo was injured, and in a real tournament, Neymar, who was the leader of the national team, was injured later.
Secondly, the series talked about the corruption scandal in FIFA, which actually happened. A year later, some officials were taken into custody, and the head of the organization resigned.
Thirdly, the Germans became world champions, having won against the Brazilians. Everything was shown exactly how it really happened, and how it happened is a mystery.
1. The economic crisis in Greece
In the 10th episode of the 23rd season, Homer launches his own television show on politics. During one of the broadcasts of his show, the running line at the bottom of the screen contains information that Europe is selling Greece at an eBay auction. Everyone thought: a thing, laughed and forgot.
And 3 years later, a crisis broke out in the country, affecting not only the Greeks, but also other European countries. Either Matt Graining (the author of the series) has a time machine hidden in his pantry, or he has an unprecedented talent for prediction.
